Welcome to the Institute of Refractories Engineers web site.

For more than forty years the Institute has served as a forum for professionals in the refractories, raw materials, manufacturing, installation and user industries.

The Institute was formed in the UK, but with over 40% of our membership overseas, the Institute is keen to develop associations with other like minded organisations around the world.

If you design, manufacture, test, sell, install, use or study refractories, the I.R.E. is for you.

Through technical meetings, training seminars, conferences and through its own journal “The Refractories Engineer” the Institute keeps its members abreast of developments in all aspects of refractories engineering and technology.
