A big thank you to everyone who attended the Institute of Refractories Engineers (IRE) Golf Day 2026, held at Wortley Golf Club in Sheffield. The event brought together members, colleagues and industry professionals for an enjoyable day of golf and networking, providing another fantastic opportunity to strengthen relationships across the refractories community. Congratulations go to Leo Reynolds, who secured first place, followed by Pete Lilley in second and Paul Warrington in third.
Further congratulations go to Henry Bowden and Richard Hopkins, who also secured prizes on the day. Thank you once again to everyone who attended and helped make the 2026 Golf Day such an enjoyable occasion. It was great to see so many familiar faces come together for a day of friendly competition, conversation and networking. And there’s already a date for the diary – next year’s IRE Golf Day is provisionally scheduled for 9th June 2027. We hope to see you there!
Held on 16th September 2026, the event took place at Wortley Golf Course, Sheffield, with tee-off times commencing from 10:30am. The annual golf day has become a popular fixture within the refractories sector, bringing together engineers, manufacturers, suppliers and industry stakeholders from across the UK. Set against the backdrop of one of South Yorkshire’s established golf venues, participants enjoyed a relaxed and enjoyable day combining sport, networking and industry engagement. Wortley Golf Course provided a challenging yet accessible course suitable for golfers of all abilities.
