Bookings Now Open for the IRE 2026 UK Introductory Training Day

The Institute of Refractories Engineers (IRE) has announced that bookings are now open for its 2026 UK Introductory Training Day, offering newcomers and those looking to strengthen their understanding of refractory engineering an ideal opportunity to develop core industry knowledge.

Designed for engineers, technicians, apprentices, graduates, sales professionals and anyone working within or alongside the refractory industry, the one-day event provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of refractories and their applications across a wide range of high-temperature industrial processes.

The training programme is developed by experienced industry professionals and forms part of the IRE’s ongoing commitment to supporting professional development throughout the refractory sector. Delegates will gain valuable insight into essential topics while also having the opportunity to network with fellow professionals and experienced practitioners.

Whether attendees are beginning their careers in refractories or require a broader understanding of refractory materials and their performance, the course has been structured to provide practical knowledge that can be applied immediately within the workplace.

The event also reflects the Institute’s wider mission of encouraging knowledge sharing, supporting skills development and helping to address the industry’s future workforce requirements. As demand continues to grow for skilled refractory engineers across steel, cement, glass, foundry and other high-temperature industries, initiatives such as the Introductory Training Day play an important role in developing the next generation of professionals. Places are expected to be in demand, and early booking is recommended. Full details of the programme, venue, timings and registration information are available via the Institute of Refractories Engineers website.
