On Wednesday 11 June IRE members and guests met at Abbeydale Golf Club in Sheffield for a reboot of the IRE Golf Day. The weather proved to be fantastic and the course in excellent condition, writes IRE Treasurer and Vice President Dominic Oates.

The group met for a pre-golf lunch. The first tee was at 1.30pm, the groups then proceeded every ten minutes. There were no holes-in-one on the day but a couple of birdies. The groups started coming in around 5pm and were met by IRE President Mike Lamkin for prize giving. First place went to Harry Gray with 36 Stableford points. After a count back, as two players were on 29 points, second place was awarded to Tom Kerr, with third place going to Julian Gray. All three received vouchers for American Golf.
Thereafter it was back to the clubhouse for dinner. Abbeydale GC kindly provided the IRE with a private room, so golfers could chat refractories without bemusing the other players. Thanks to the staff at Abbeydale Golf Club and all those who joined the competition. The intention is to run the event at the same time next year and hopefully expand on participants and prizes, so watch out for more information.
